of new processes is paramount. The fracturing of the joint between connecting rod
and cap is just one of these advances.
Agena’s fracture machine is in-line by nature and utilises overhead component
transfer. A YAG laser is used to create the scribe line, which controls the
point of fracture initialisation. After rod fracture the joint faces are cleaned
and the bolts are automatically assembled and torqued to achieve the correct
joint clamping forces.
