In our early years of connecting rod production, standard machining centers
were used for low to medium volume rods. Although these were versatile
machines, they were an expensive option.
As the business grew we opted for transfer machines capable of machining the
high volumes now demanded by our customers. These proved far more efficient
for medium to high volume rods.
The
Conception
To stay competitive we need to be able to evolve and adapt within today’s
market by using innovations in technology wherever possible.
This is why in 2001 we set out an objective to design
and build a machine that could give us the cost efficiency of a transfer
machine coupled with the flexibility of a machining center. We have focused
our design primarily on the machining of connecting rods.
To find answers to our problems we had to weigh up the
pros and cons of other machining solutions.
Based on these facts and our thirty years of connecting rod manufacturing
experience, an idea was born for a third option.
