This site houses the connecting rod design centre, a Pro-E
& Pro-Mechanical CAE system is employed to enable Albon Eng. to undertake
all aspects of connecting rod design from initial concept through to “Make
like production machined prototypes”. A selection of CNC machines is used to
facilitate the prototype manufacture. Connecting rod fatigue testing will be
possible from October 2001 using an Instrom 1 mega-Newton fatigue-testing
machine.
Special development programmes are also performed within this facility,
these include engine drive line isolation devices and large displacement oil
pumps for very large diesel engines.
