INTRODUCTION
This statement is to adhere to section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. The statement covers the activities of Albon Engineering & Manufacturing PLC, Albon Engineering & Manufacturing DOO and AGENA Technology, which procure goods and services from and form part of Albon’s supply chain.
Modern slavery is against the law and a violation of fundamental human rights. This violation of human rights can be in many forms servitude, forced labour or human trafficking. Albon considers all of which to be disrespectful to individuals and their rights and in turn believe these practices should never be explored for any personal or commercial gain.
OUR ORGANISATION
Albon Engineering & Manufacturing PLC is a large diverse design, engineering and manufacturing business with operations in the United Kingdom, Serbia and the United States of America. Across all our facilities the Albon group employs over 400 members of staff. Our portfolio of world class and competitive machining operations provides precision components to meet the growing demand of a wide range of transportation sectors that require machined metallic components.
As a responsible engineering and manufacturing company, normally acting as a tier one supplier within a supply chain, we have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. Albon is committed to acting ethically, with integrity and transparently in all of its business dealings and relationships. We are and will continue to enforce effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking does not take place anywhere within our business including all supply chains we do business with, consistent with our obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
DUE DILIGENCE
Albon recognises identifying potential victims of modern slavery can be challenging due to its diverse and elusive nature. We also recognise the potential of ethically lesser companies attempting to hide the treatment of their employees. Albon accepts responsibility through its due diligence processes to ensure workers are not being exploited. We ensure all employment, human rights, and health and safety laws are being adhered to, including the freedom of movement and communications.
We only use specified, reputable employment agencies to source labour and always verify the practices of any new agency before accepting employees.
The Albon team is responsible for assessing the suppliers we deal with. The main tool we use for this is supplier audits, where we carry out some of the group’s certification. Should a supplier fail to provide information requested or meet our expectations, Albon will take appropriate action, this could include not entering into new business or possibly terminating existing business partnerships.
POLICIES
Albon highlights its view against modern slavery to its suppliers through the Code of Conduct for Suppliers document which is on our website on the Supplier Conduct page. Also located on the Supplier Conduct page is our Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) document. Both of these documents dictate to our suppliers what is required and expected within our business partnership.
All employees are encouraged to raise their concerns about any issue or suspicion of modern slavery in any part of Albon’s business or supply chains through the employee handbook. Within this there are two sections to assist our employees in the event of a situation like this, the Modern slavery Policy and the Whistleblowers Policy. Our employees can also contact the government’s Modern slavery helpline on 0800 0121 700 who are able to provide further information and guidance.
MODERN FREEDOM
Albon will continuously provide instruction and guidance to increase awareness of modern slavery and endeavour to maintain modern freedom for workers in engineering and manufacturing and all other sectors. Albon aims to encourage openness and will support anyone who raises genuine concerns in good faith under this policy, even if they turn out to be mistaken. The Company is committed to ensuring no one suffers any detrimental treatment or victimisation as a result of reporting in good faith their suspicion that modern slavery is or may be taking place in any part of its business or in any of its supply chains.
